I want to turn off notification sound but leave system sound on

When I set the notification sound to zero on my Galaxy Note 10.1 the system sound gets turned off. Is there anyway to leave the system sound, like tapping of the keyboard, on?

When you press volume button, ringtone volume should drop down. If you tap the down arrow icon, more settings will appear, provided your device is not on silent mode, you should have granular control over notifications /system volumes.

Thank you your reply, but unfortunatelly there is no down arrow. I have a setting button next to the volume control and under those settings the system sound gets muted when I pull the notification volume all down. This surely has some logic to it, but for me it's not helpful, as I like the feedback by sound.

OK, found sth. If you go further down into the settings, you can set the rington for notifications to silent. When I adjust the notification voulme it gets back to the default whistle, but if I leave them alone it stays there. It remains to be seen if it really is so.
