how can i fix my phone when it only says usb connected whenever i try to charge it

Settings for your device may have USB options that need your permission to do certain things.
If you are charging from computer the USB port may not send enough current through the cable to charge properly.

Try a different cable since this may also be the problem.

Also this would depend on if you're charging the device through the power port/outlet, official charging base or through your computer's UBS connection.
