Android phone automatically turning down headset

[AC Question]

I have an LG33L "smart" phone, android lollipop. Too "smart" for its, or at least MY, own good. The phone keeps turning down the volume I've selected while using a headset. It will play at my volume (usually one click below full volume), then turn it down on its own (to about 1/2 full volume), and force me to acknowledge that "high volume can hurt your hearing" or words to that affect before "letting me" turn it back up. This P*SSES me off so much it's all I can do not to throw the GD thing against a wall. I'm using the default player that came with the phone. Is there any player that DOESN'T think it's smarter than the HUMAN who owns it, or is there a way to get the current player to NOT DO THIS?
