My phone will not select recovery

My phone got dropped as i slipped on some ice and it automatically shut off. It will not turn on unless I got to the fastboot menu, and from there I'm attempting to go to the recovery options but once i press the power button to select it, the phone freezes up and does nothing. I tried letting it sit for a little bit after i selected it but nothing worked. I then tried the factory mode option where it would only briefly flash the motorola logo then go back to black screen.

Two possibilities, in order of likelihood: 1. Something broke physically inside the phone. It can probably be replaced, but it might not pay, depending on the age of the phone, and how expensive the repair is. 2. Something in the ROM got corrupted, and you can reflash it (unlikely, but possible). Check on the appropriate Motorola forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/ for instructions.
