    Hi,
I'm currently on an outdated LG G2 (which is 5.2 inch). I'm planning to upgrade my phone to a phablet so as to evade buying a separate tablet but I'm not sure which screen size is more suitable for videos e.g. watching tutorials for Microsoft Office & Math lectures on the go where I'd like to see screen elements as clear as possible (i.e. the Office interface while the instructor is moving his mouse and choosing commands & the Math equations written on board in the Math lectures...etc).

For all phablet users out there, will a 6 inch be enough? or I have to go higher, may be to a 6.x inch where x is some integer? I'm trying to find the sweet spot between the clarity I want for my videos and compactness / portability.

Everyone has their own opinion on what size is good for them... so online opinions are basically worthless. You should probably just visit a carrier or retail store and handle the different sized phones to see what "you" like.
