I mean, I can't find an SD card specifically made for LG X power (even though it's been more than 6 months since its release)

SD cards are not made for specific model devices.

SanDisk, Samsung, Patriot... you do want current standards and performance in capacity you need.

Older devices were not built with 200-256GB SD in mind but that I'd fading now also.

    I'm partial to Samsung.

Ok, the last SD card I bought was for one of my S4's (it was a SanDisk one if I'm not mistaken). I hope there's a SanDisk that works for LG phones

All cards work for all phones.
The only problem you tend to get into is when the card capacity is too big for your phone (128GB card in a phone that takes only 32GB).

Counterfeit cards are a different story.

My LG X power only has 16 gb internal storage. Do you mean that it's safe to add a microSD card with up to 256 GB to it?

Yes, if the phone does support a card that big.

This wirecutter 'best microSD card' article is worth reading through if you want to get a good grasp of microSD cards. Even if you do or don't agree with their top choice it's still pretty interesting:

For what 256GB SD costs you'd be better served with different phone and go with 32-64GB SD

You mean 256 gb cards are bigger in physical dimensions than 32/64 gb cards?

Also, my LG X power is only less than a month old. It's probably still too early to replace it. Before buying my LG phone, I was thinking that I wanted to buy either a Samsung Galaxy S6 or S7, but I didn't buy either phone due to the lack of an SD card slot and high SAR (phone radiation levels), respectively.

It's too bad there doesn't seem to be so much advice or details on LG X power specs yet, particularly for Cricket versions

No, all micro SD cards are physically the same size. Any reference to "size" is always in regard to capacity.
