For my Verizon Samsung S7, same just started happening last night on the night stand. In four hours, drained from 100% to 75%. The only thing I remember changing on the device over the past 7 days or more is uninstalled TIKL Walkie Talkie program last night before bed.

A codec is a little utility that enCOdes/DECodes audio - in this case from media files. It should be one of the apps using the least amount of power. Restart the phone and see if it still happens. If not, you may have to reflash the ROM or have the phone replaced, depending on the state of warranty/insurance.
