It is a Moto G 4 and the problem began about two months after receiving the phone, new.
If my screen dims due to a timeout
The screen timeouts
The screen is shut off for any reason
The brightness is adjusted either direction
Or I make a phone call (if it passes the dialing phase)
A phantom touch is activated that goes away and only disappears after restarting my phone, unless I wait to long to unlock it and the screen turns off.
It used to just be a random phantom touch, but has stayed with these rules for several months. I have activated safe mode to rule out downloaded apps and have cleared cookies and cache.
