Why is Google Maps cutting off on the bottom portion?

[AC Question]

With a recent update, Google Maps is now cutting off a portion of the bottom of the app: **apparently links to screenshots are not allowed**

I recently installed and have been using Andriod Auto. I prefer to use my phone in landscape mode in my car; I can't even see the button to exit navigation (not to mention my estimated arrival time).

Any ideas?

It seems to happen to me almost every other day. I wish I knew what the problem was, because it's really irritating. I even switched to Waze for a while because of this.
