Email server not responding, but it is!

[AC Question]

Samsung A3 and opening screen displays this together with cmap.gmx.com.

However, my gmx email is working fine on Samsung whenever I'm near a WiFi!

I'm trying it in various locations including here near my laptop using same email and NETGEAR33 WiFi router, a few metres away. This will work on both phone and laptop twenty metres away.

I'm baffled.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using the stock Email app to access your GMX email account? And are you saying that you only get this error message when you're on mobile data, and not wi-fi?

I had to use the gmx app when I got the phone.
I only get the error message on mobile, not when I'm using WiFi anywhere like my laptop.

Do you want to keep using the GMX app? If not, try adding your GMX account to your stock Email app. Go to the Email app's settings and go through the Add Account process. If it won't add the account automatically (if you enter the email address and password), then add it manually using these IMAP settings: https://support.gmx.com/pop-imap/imap/server.html
