How do i stop notices for mms coming in from a week ago on my lg4.

My friend tried to sent me 2 pics and after she tried repeatedly, although i had my wifi and data on only one of the pics came through.
Now i keep getting the notification of the mms coming through. When i open the messaging app, there is nothing there.
I turned off the notifications in the settings area but now my friends have to call me, or i have to constantly be checking to see if i have msgs because i don't get the notifications! Please, anyone, HELP!

Welcome to Android Central! If you don't have any messages that are important to keep, go to Settings>Apps, select the Messaging app, and Clear Cache/Clear Data. Does the problem persist?
