how to disable the software update notification S6 Galaxy

A

AC Question

The last answer to this question was for an S5 in 2016 and half of that solution was still useful. Samsung no longer give the option to install later so I can't turn off the notification as was suggested there. I have turned off automatic software downloads, but how do I get rid of the notification?

Having read the awful reviews of the recent firmware update, I do not intend to install it on my Galaxy S6. But the notification is sitting on the top of my settings menu and it just needs to be touched to activate it (wwhich could easily happen accidentally). I don't seem to be able to get rid of it completely and it doesn't show up in the status bar so I can't do it there either.

Any ideas?

This may not be the best answer, but you could always root it. After root it will no longer take an OTA update until you flash stock firmware back on the device. Which you can do with Odin3 and sammobile website.
