WHY can I not keep an uncorrupted SD card in my Edge?

[AC Question]

I have done all recommended steps, after purchasing 3 different brands of SD cards, including a Samsung, I cannot keep them from corrupting! I even invested in a flash drive that I can plug directly into the phone, so that I don't have to keep taking the card out to download to my computer. I have mounted/unmounted each and every time, and formatted disk in the phone!!!

HELP!! I take hundreds of pics and have lost hundreds of pics in the process of all of this hassle! What else can I do? I cannot afford the purchase of new SD cards, and am heartbroken at the loss of my pics!

Where are you buying these cards from?

Why not also use the cloud (Google Photos) as a backup as well?
