Why can't I connect to wifi?

So when I try to connect to my schools wifi I go to connect it and it says connected. However, the wifi requires a password. It won't let me enter a password and when I try to add it as a new network it still won't connect. Vent though my phone says I'm connected to wifi I can't use it. Plz help, I'm a new android user, so I'm probably missing something obvious

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Is it a wi-fi password that you have to provide (i.e., one you enter as soon as you choose the network to connect to), or is it a password you enter on a login webpage?

What do you mean when you say it won't let you enter a password? No option comes up for a password, or it doesn't accept the password you enter?
