Chrome browser app suddenly running really slowly

[AC Question]

For some reason one day my Chrome app started really not working. It used to be lightning fast but just one day the progress bar would get stuck at about 0 or 10% of the way across with no explanation. It would never load the page nor take me to a chrome error message.

This happens no matter the connection quality whether it be my wifi or 4G LTE.

I had to switch over to the Opera browser instead which has been working great, just not as great as Chrome used to.

I have a Nexus 6p upgraded to the latest OS (7.1.1 I think).

Here are some things I have tried:
-Uninstalled Updates and reupdated
-Cleared cache
-Cleared all chrome browsing data
-Rebooted
-Wifi/Data on and off
-Removed all tabs

Any ideas?
