Why won't my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 screen turn on?

I dropped it pretty hard screen flat down. When I picked it up I was relieved to see that it had not cracked. But it would not turn on. It still vibrates when I get a message and the LED works fine. I tried doing a hard reset. The LED went off. I plugged it in for a while and then turned it back on. The LED is flashing blue for messages but it still won't turn on.

Presumably, it has been damaged.

Is there a way to fix it on my own? If I take it somewhere to fix it can they, or do I just need to get a new phone?

It may be something as simple as a connection, but doubtful you can diagnose. I would take into a repair shop and have it looked at.
Assuming you are still interested in the phone and the condition is otherwise good enough to spend additional money to repair.
