When comparing it to the Galaxy S6, it out does it in almost every major area with the exception of design. But I'm not paying for the look of the damn thing. I'm paying for good pictures and it's the only phone in it's class with a removable battery, which is a deal breaker for me.

Welcome to the forums. Design can mean a lot of things. The modules weren't exactly well thought out. The need to tear the phone down to change modules wasn't the greatest idea. Moto did a much better job with that, and I think that is where the criticisms of design lie.
