Deleting over 10,000 texts on messaging app on Galaxy s6?

A

AC Question

So I started texting my boyfriend about a year ago and now we have over 10,000 text messages. I had the setting to only keep so many texts at a time turned off. The app has slowed down significantly because of it and I can no longer text him. I've tried to delete the entire thread but it just slows down and crashes. It never actually deletes anything unless I go through and individually select a small number and delete that and then do that again. It is too much to do this with 10,000 texts so I was wondering if there was an easier way to just get rid of the thread. I am even willing to get rid of all of my other threads if I have to. I just need to get rid of at least this thread in order to speed up the app. I hope this is enough information, and I will appreciate any suggestion for help. Thank you.

^ It would be worth a try though. The possibility occurred to me too.

On iPhones you can select Delete Conversation, which deletes all messages with that contact. There must be an Android equivalent, so as sfoLAX says, stand by.
