stop google photos from showing what is in the cloud on the mobile

I'm happy with google services of backing up what is on my phone to the cloud

I don't like however of whatever I upload directly to photos.google to be showing on my mobile phone

Is there any way to stop it?

Welcome to Android Central! I don't believe so. When you open Google Photos, you could instead tap Menu>Device Folders, and view your locally saved photos there.
