How to recover Viber chats on 6.0.1

Hi all, I have been trying to recover an entire lost chat thread from Viber. I have given Gihosoft's Data Recovery a go but even with USB debugging enabled it does not connect in PTP or MTP mode and so cannot scan the phone.

Windows 7 Pro 64 BTW.

Help! Any suggestions?

You don't need to connect in PTP or MTP mode in order to use recovery tools. However, if your PC cannot recognize your phone in any way, neither can the recovery tool.

If your PC can recognize your phone, you should keep a point in mind: When you enable USB debugging and connect your phone to PC, you should notice if there is a prompt on your phone asking you to allow the PC to access you phone data, and you should choose allow.

BTW, what is your phone model?
