How do I completely disable the capacitive buttons on the droid maxx?

I dropped my phone the other day and it caused a crack to form in the screen along the capacitive buttons and now they won't stop flickering on and off. Is there a way to completely disable them?

Welcome to Android Central! Try using Screen Filter -- I think it can control the backlight for the capacitative buttons.

If the buttons also aren't working, and you need another way to access their functions, try Handy Soft Keys.
