My phone will not change from swipe to a more secure lock.

My phone is stuck on swipe or none. I tried changing it to pin, password, knock code, and even pattern. I have tried it over and over. My phone is a LGL56VL style. What is wrong? Please help me.

Welcome to Android Central! So when you change it to a more secure method, and then you go back to the actual settings menu for the screen lock, does it show that it's back to Swipe or None? Or does it actually show that the change you made is still valid, but it still only unlocks with a simple swipe?
