If I put a microSD card in my phone, what sorts of files will I be able to store on it? Can I store apps on it, and launch them? Can I make the microSD card the default location to save new photos and videos? Thanks in advance!

I'm using an Alcatel Fierce 4 running Android 6.0.1.

:cool: SD Cards are used to Storage apps, photos, Doc's,.etc.
in phones with reduced storage like: 8 -16 - 32: GB's
Now used as your default is Not advisable

Thanks a lot for that information. Could you please elaborate on why using it as your default destination for new photos isn't advisable? Is it not as dependable as the phone's built-in storage?

re:

@Rafagon: Isn't advisable it doesn't mean that can't Not be done: I don't
use microSDcards but I've read about, some issues by use them

1) Can't upload photos, videos, Doc's automatically: Phone internal memory does
2) Take pictures, videos with Phone memory is quicker-Than move them to SdCards
3) Risk of lose what is storage on it..If SDcard become corrupted

re:

In theory, the SD card is not as dependable as the internal storage memory of the phone.
SD cards do go bad every now and then, just like hard drives do.

SD cards are best used for your media files: pictures, music, videos, documents.
Leave the apps on the internal storage.

Some camera apps let you set the SD card as their default storage.
I did this with mine. It might be a little slower to access, but the phone manages OK for stills and video.

Like all important data, you SD card and internal storage need to be backed up since phones have a habit of getting damaged or stolen and since the SD cards can go bad.
