Restore backup when forgot the password

[AC Question]

I helped my daughter to backup her Huawei Y6 before leaving it to the service. I did the backup at the SD-card and as I remember, I didn't set any password for the file. However, now the phone requires a password.

She is sad but I can't help her. Does anyone know if a backup stored at the SD-card is able to open without knowledge of the password?

Welcome to Android Central! Where are you in the setup process that is requiring a password? Have you already successfully logged back into the phone?
