Samsung Galaxy S6 Nougat e-mail security update

A

AC Question

I installed the Nougat software update, then the next time I tried to access my Outlook Exchange e-mail on my phone I got a screen that says: Device Security/ Update security settings to use XXX.XXX@XXXX.com. When I click on Update a screen pops up with a notice: server activesync.insuremail.com must be able to remotely control some security features on your device, then it lists a lot of terrifying functions:
ERASE ALL DATA: Erase phone's data without warning by performing factory reset
SET PASSWORD RULES: Control the screen unlock password length, etc.
MONITOR SCREEN UNLOCK ATTEMPTS: ...
LOCK THE SCREEN: Control how and when the screen locks
SET SCREEN UNLOCK PASSWORD EXPIRATION: Control how frequently the screen unlcok password must be changed
AND ON AND ON AND ON.
My Question: Is this legit??? Should I activate this thing? Verizon was not very informed on this or helpful.
