Motion sensor still working although it is turned off in settings

So the motion sensor that causes the lock screen to wake and show the time greatly annoys me, and I looked up how to turn it off. I turned it off in the Moto app that came with the phone, but it is still randomly waking up and showing the time? Can anyone please help?
