How do i stop Messenger from accessing my private cell contacts and making available to "friends."

Was stunned to learn all of my personal cell contacts (business & personal) were viewable by so called friends. In hurry so uninstalled it. Can't find any settings. Help!

Fb is very snoopy and not concerned about sharing your private details at all.. Selling them seems acceptable to them also apparently...
I think there are settings if you can find them.. Or you can deny the app all the permissions it needs..
