OS oversized and ram getting eaten?

[AC Question]

So my phone lags up easily leaving open Kik, Facebook and just the basic messenger open. When I run clean Master, it's mostly the OS processes running up my ram. Also my OS takes up about 9.5gb of my space. What's up with that? Why is my OS half the size of Windows?

Bear in mind also that so-called RAM cleaner apps, if that is what you are using, are generally regarded as unnecessary on Android devices, and may actually make your phone performance worse.
