Galaxy J5 broken screen, how to retrieve files?

Hi,

My phone screen is completely busted, it's shattered to pieces and the backlight is gone, so I doubt it responds to any touch. Now I need to retrieve some files from the internal memory and I have no idea what to do.

I have googled around a bit already and here are some things I wanted to clear out first:
- I have a swipe unlock and I don't think there's a way to unlock my phone in this state
- I got it to download mode with Vol Up + Home + Power, I think, can't see anything
- I've got ADB installed on my PC, but that requires recovery mode or USB debugging enabled, right?
- I tried some of those data recovery programs but they weren't really helpful

Does anybody know what I can do to get my precious data off my phone?
