Why is my Samsung a5 2017 phone unresponsive

[AC Question]

Help! Yesterday my phone was switching on and off of its own accord. Then it wouldn't switch on at all. I've never had problems before. I got home and put it on charge and it switched on. I've just woke up and it is completely unresponsive, not charging and will not hard reset. Any suggestions? I was unsure if it had gotten too hot because it has been so warm the past few days and it was warm in my room where I was charging the phone last night.

maybe the battery is damaged.
