I had to sign for mine.

BB's free shipping is by horse & buggy. It took me a week to get my #1 Tablet in the world. It arrived just fine.

I think depends on a location,i ordered my prime and dock ,both needed my sign.

I left a note with a signature with instructions. Plus I live in a pretty private neighborhood. I'm never nervous about packages being stolen. I'm an avid Amazon shopper and have had many items left. Most of the ups guys know where to put them out of sight.
