It does not break root. I installed it, on XDA they are saying it if a GPS fix.
Edit: It does break root. Guess I should have read up more on it. I now know about root keeper for when I gain root access again.

Just updated mine tonight. HUGE gps improvement. Almost on par with my evo 3d. Haven't tried it in a moving vehicle or anything. Check out the pics.
Phone stats

Prime stats from same location. Just as many satellites, not quite as good on the accuracy.

I would also like to point out that my wifi seems MUCH better also. More testing needed there, before I could pull 10-13 mbps on my phone, and maybe 4 with my prime. Now am hitting 8-13 on the prime. Hopefully this is the fix this thing needs. May end up keeping it after all.

Re: Firmware update 1/18/2011
I went to check out the new update available for the Prime and this is what I get. " There is a system update for your divice. Please check notifications" and then it switches to say this "Failed to connect to the internet, Please check your internet connection" I am sitting right beside my router and all other programs that need the internet are working. Where do I find the notification to update because there is nothing prompting me to upgrade or anything

Re: Firmware update 1/18/2011
Can people post the firmware numbers?
Maybe GPS version? W-Fi Version, Bluetooth Verision, Build number etc?
I checked for an update and it doesn't show anything available. Wondering if this is being pushed out slowly or what. - 01-19-2012, 12:48 PM #17

Re: Firmware update 1/18/2011
I happened to see the update last night (2012-01-18) and installed it. I don't know if it was supposed to improved WiFi performance. Mine did pretty well but not awesome before and as far as I can tell it's about the same now.
GPS is still completely broken on mine however. I just installed the "GPS Status" app to try and collect more data and as far as it's concerned there are no satellites in the sky. I certainly didn't buy the thing for GPS navigation, but it would be nice to have it working.Last edited by seh1; 01-19-2012 at 06:11 PM.

Re: Firmware update 1/18/2011
The GPS got worse for me. Before this update, I was able to get a GPS lock standing motionless outside for 30 seconds. Now I don't even get that. In a test I did today, my unit could only see 2 satellites and couldn't lock on to anything.
Hopefully more GPS fixes will be coming from Asus. - 01-19-2012, 06:03 PM #25
