Lost my 32 gig micro sd card from my Prime tonight. I've noticed that under certain circumstances you can unknowingly accidentally depress your memory card then viola! It will just fall out. This happened once before and was lucky to find the card in my lap. No such luck this time as it happened in the field. BE CAREFUL OR YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR MICRO SD CARD. :^(

I lost mine yesterday! I don't know how but when i came back from an event, it wasn't there. I should have put somewhere safe.

Yup i lost mine the other day & was frantic lol.I think i will just use thumb drives & sd cards in the future via the keyboard dock.

Yeah, when I first got my mSDHC card I had a hell of a time getting it inserted properly, and it seemed quite snug. After that I had a hell of a time getting the card to eject to (but it was installed correctly, as it was working). Then I hooked up the new keyboard dock this weekend and accidentally brushed the mSD slot and the card just shot out. Subsequent depresses worked as expected. It's a bit scary. I think that ideally the slot would be a little more recessed so that you'd have to deliberately depress the mSD card (with a fingernail or pen tip) to engage the spring mechanism.

I've lost one inside my prime! My micro sd socket is very biased toward the top of the slot. I have just as much space to slide a card in below the socket. I could probably fit a few more in there if I'm not careful.

I use the micro sd slot almost exclusively for my SD to micro sd adapter for photos. It's exponentially faster than the sd asus SD reader adapter.

While I like the idea of having additional storage on the tablet itself I didn't like how it wasn't flush with the edge and I would catch it with my thumb or hand while holding it. I now use the SD slot on the dock. Sorry to hear that.

Yea, count me as one who has lost their microSD card. I think I lost it when I pulled the docked tablet out of my bag... the card probably shot across the room. I didn't notice until I was long gone.

yup, I lost mine as well, but luckily it was at the bottom of my bag. that thing just sticks out on the side of the prime and is very easily pressed.

Just some FYI, Had the same issue. Take a piece of scotch tape and use enough that it sticks well. Place it over the card and slot. If it gets bumped or pushed in the tape keeps the card from falling out. Simple fix

Hi, just got my Prime yesterday and am trying to see if my card is in right. It is in all the way but I am not sure it is in the right way. Where do I look in my file manager it won't let me paste anything to the removable file, says permission denied. I have it in so tight its going to be a chore to get it out. Which way should it face? Thanks for any help you can give me, you can bet as soon as I know its in right Ill be putting some tape on it, even though right now its not going anywhere.

Amazing that someone didn't consider this in design or testing phases. Either that or they have a side deal with the card manufacturers. ;)

Thanks for warning others about this problem.

I was also worried about the edge of the micro card sticking out, but when I put my Prime into the cover I am using, it adds enough thickness to the edges that you can no longer accidentally brush against the card edge. I just made a post in the "What case did you get" thread on p.8 showing the cover I got on eBay for $13. Works for me...

Sounds like your card is slid in between the actual card slot and the case itself if you look into the micro sd card slot you can see how you could miss the slot completely and stick the card into the void in the case.. your card should be able to be easily depressed and slid out. If not then your card is in that space im talking about. When the card is inserted correctly in the slot, it will protrude out a fraction of an inch. This is normal for the prime apparently and unfortunately is causing people to loose their cards.

I had the same issue with mine on the first day with it. I put in the card and didn't realize it was outside of the holder on the main board against the back side of the screen. Really tough to get it back out but managed. Not a great first impression.

Received my Prime with keyboard two weeks ago and I'm loving it. I bought a 32 gig micro card and slid it in incorrectly (under the slot). Still kicking myself.
Took it to a laptop guy that advertises working on IPADS to have it removed but he wouldn't touch it.

Not only the loss of the card, I'm concerned that it might short something out internally. (it's really wedged tight)

I've considered buying a new card and inserting it correctly, but again afraid extra pressure will short something out internally. Any comments other than agreeing that I did a real stupid thing would be apreciated.

Love the forum!!

I use a small piece of Scotch Tape over the slot to protect.....or heck for the BIG guys, Duct tape.....Duct tape fixes everything....

Has anyone had an issue with video and sound not playing properly through the keyboard slot (using micro sd with carrier). Video plays fine, just a "scratching" noise instead of the sound track (same for MP3's. Remove the card and carrier, and put just the micro sd into the tablet and everything works fine. Tried two different carriers and had the same results.
