Can't hard reset

So our tablet sat on the shelf for a while and we forgot the to unlock it. NBD, just hard reset. Except....it doesn't work. I've tried the paperclip in the hard reset hole. I can feel button get pushed, but even after holding for about 10 to 15 seconds absolutely nothing happens. I've also tried the Volume down + Power and I get an initial buzz, but then holding until my fingers scream....and still nothing. Any thoughts?

Welcome to Android Central! Does the screen ever come on? If not, the screen might have failed, and you're just not able to see the Recovery Menu appear.

Thanks! The screen works fine. It comes up with the date and the pin window. It remembers the wifi and connects to that. So fortunately, it seems to be working fine. Other than allowing me to hard reset :'(

And you've followed the steps here? ASUS TF201 eee Pad Transformer Prime - How to Hard Reset my phone - HardReset.info. I assume that when you tried the Power/Vol Down combo, that was after you had first powered down the tablet, right?

Yes, I found that page first and I thought "well geez, this should be super simple and straight forward." As I mentioned, I got the initial buzz with the Power + Volume Down button, but never got any sort of screen.

Can you confirm that you have the TF201? Just checking, since ASUS's naming scheme has always been a little confusing.
