HELP with connecting tablet to TV using hdmi

I realized I already had an HDMI cord so i bought a mini HDMI to HDMI adaptor. I plugged the HDMI cord from my TV to the adptor which plugs into the transformer. It doesn't show up on TV, it saysretrieving data then it says no signal. Help someone plz

Can't really help much without more info like the brand of TV, if the setup works with any other TV, if the HDMI on the TV works with other equipment?

Hate to go through a bunch of trouble shooting and find out its just a bad adapter, cord, or port.

If its a Panasonic TV its a known issue.

I have found that certain TV's do not connect to the Transformer on all ports. For example, on a Vizio I tried it on, it would not work on HDMI port # 3 but did work on ports 1 and 2. I am not clear why but I think somehow some sort of DRM inter working between the TV and the Transformer is coming into play.

It is a vizio and yes the port on the vizio connects to my laptop via HDMI cord. I tried all 3 ports no luck
