Unable to have my PC recognize my memo pad HD7

I've connected my memo pad to the computer via usb cable but my computer does not recognize it. I'm running windows XP.
What do I need to do.

I had the same problem when I owned an HD7 and found it was because my Windows XP was not service pack 3. It was not even service pack 2. I will correct this shortly as my Samsung tab 3 also wont connect if not SP3.

has anyone had the usb cable on asus hd7 go bad? it will charge it, but picasa3 will not import as it is not recognized I'm running win 8.1

I had that problem too, you just take another cable, ex. Samsung's or any same. It worked for me.

Activate USB debugging in Developer Options, for better info just search on google how to activate developer options it is same almost on every Device.
