I saw someone suggest doing a factory rest on the prime when it gets here just in case before you customize it. I was wondering if I do this will it have all the same apps and things that it does when you receive it?

Why would this be necessary?

Doesn't it come pretty "factory reset" from the factory?

It should, but some people claim they always do this and never have any problems, claiming it might have something to do with always performing the reset before doing anything on it. It's kind of a "do you believe or not" thing though. People who do it swear by it, while there are also cases such as mine, where I had actually intended on doing it when I received, but completely forgot until after I had already began setting mine up how I liked it, and then didn't want to re-do everything. Guess what - my prime is fantastic and really only has the well-documented crummy wifi issue.

So, in short, it's really just up to you. Could be a placebo-type thing, but perhaps it's not. Who knows.

how far is your router usually from the tablet? do you have just a weak signal or the performance/speed is also bad? I'm supposed to get my prime tomorrow finally and I live in one bedroom appt where router is in the living room. I think I should be ok... I might take my tablet sometimes to the city and maybe use wifi in the parks or cafes but mainly tether it with my smartphone. also I take it you have no issues with 30pin connector like some people do. I'm really nervous to get my tablet tomorrow and find out theres something wrong with it.
thanks!

Hi! Good to see you in the Prime forums again, I was thinking you had decided against getting it. Now I can see you in both the Atrix and the Prime forums. :-P

You will be just fine in a one bedroom apartment with the router in the living room. The wifi isn't THAT bad. I'm in a two-story house right now, and my signal situation goes like this: My router is downstairs, and the tablet is upstairs. I never have seen it full 4-bar signal. However, I often see it at 3 bars - not bad, right? But, in addition to that, it will also go to only 1 bar while sitting in the exact same spot, without me touching it or holding it, and the router not having been moved. Then I will look at it again 10 minutes later and it will show 3 bars again, sometimes 2. So, for mine personally, it ranges from 1-3 bars periodically, with all other variable staying the same. It's just something in the device going on, I think.

One important thing to consider is I have never been fully disconnected from it, though. Keep that in mind. The browser may load pages slightly slower when it's at 1 bar - I haven't had enough experience with that yet - been kind of busy filling in extra shifts at work.

Also, I haven't taken it out to a public wifi area just yet...and that is my next worry. I assume once I get back to college classes starting next week, where the router is god-knows-where, I may not be able to get a signal...we'll see.

edited to add: Forgot to answer the other question. Well, I talked a little about it in another thread somewhere on here, but, the charging port is kind of annoying. It fits in there nicely and all, but it wiggles a bit, which I don't like. I might just be being picky, though - but it makes me worry about if I'll have a problem with it in the future - how on earth would I charge the thing then? Like I said, it seems snug enough, but still wiggles quite a bit, and that just makes me uncomfortable personally. I'm fine with it if it stays like this, though - I'm just extra cautious when I charge it and unplug it. Another member commented here saying the same thing and how he's just careful when he charges it.

jonneh thanks a lot for your very informative reply! greatly appreciate it! yes I'm frequent in this and GSII Skyrocket forum since I dont have the Atrix anymore... Anyway, from what i see the wifi issue shouldn't be a problem for me. the important part is that it doesn't drop the connection.. A wiggling connector however might be a problem in the future... on my ipad2 connector is the last thing i'd worry about. I dont understand why it was hard for Asus make a good quality build on that particulat part.... Like i mentioned here before I've never had a positive experience with any Asus devices. but this is the only tegra 3 tablet so far.. well in the worst case scenario i'll just take it back to the store... anyway thanks a lot man when i'll finally get it i'll report my findings in here! :)

Yeah, definitely let us know! I'm curious to hear if you have any issues. Good luck tomorrow! :-)

Pretty much exactly the same situation with me.

if i do a factory reset, will my apps still come back up like when i first got the tablet, like will they auto download off of market place again?

I got mine from amazon so I don't have anything extra, I figured the gamestop edition would end up erasing those games but I'm good in that sense.
