After hearing about the dismal screen brightness in many reviews I'm hesitate to purchase because I spend 75% of my working, leasure time outdoors. Can any owners comment on the display they've experienced? Thanks.

If your outdoors that much you may want to look elsewhere, it's usable outdoors and for someone who is normally indoors not a big deal. But it's not an ideal experience by any stretch.
But I wouldn't suggest it for someone who is always outdoors

+1. It is fine for indoors, but if outdoors you would have to turn it up all the way and kill your battery life and it is still not as bright as my Nexus 6 or Galaxy S6.

I agree, the only real disappointment I have with this phone is readability outdoors. And that includes being able to see clearly something you want to photograph. Supposedly there are apps that help with screen brightness but all the ones I've found seem to been concerned with making the screen dimmer not brighter.
