Add Direct Dial Short cuts to Home Screen

Am I just missing on how to add one?

Using the Apex Launcher and there isn't an option for Direct Dial shortcuts like there was for my Note 7 (**sniff**)....

Certain widgets might not be compatible with all launchers. What if you try a different launcher (like the stock one)?

If you go into the contact and go to the specific contact,then click on the three dots in the upper right corner, the option will show up

This just adds the contact to your home screen. A second click is needed to then dial the contact's number.

I was asking about a direct dial shortcut that will actually dial the number after one click which is an ability I have had on nearly all of my Samsung phones.
