Re: [HOW-TO] Download, Run CM7 off SD Card (Easy to follow! No ro
Many thanks to kcls for compiling this instructions into a concise simple to follow format. I had the whole thing done in less than 15 mins after having read the instructions post twice and this entire thread once.
I had tried CM7 quite a while back and never could seem to get it all installed and working quite right. After putting a LOT of time into it I ended up just rooting the nook and using it like that. Not sure if it was the card I was using or if it was user error but quite ashamedly as an IT professional I had admitted defeat with CM7.
CM7 is rocking now! Wow. After having used the NC rooted for 4-5 months having the soft buttons and home screens that do portrait or landscape orientation I am throughly impressed with CM7. I'm running 7.1 RC on a Sandisk 8GB class 2 card. - 11-05-2011, 05:32 PM #152

Re: [HOW-TO] Download, Run CM7 off SD Card (Easy to follow! No ro
I think i am doing something wrong, every time I try and follow the directions it formats my SD card to 117mb or so with 115 available. This does not allow me to drop my cm7 folder into that partition. BTW im using a 16Gb SD and when i open it up in disk manager it shows 14Gb unallocated. Any help please,
Thank You

Re: [HOW-TO] Download, Run CM7 off SD Card (Easy to follow! No ro
Hey guys I'm new here and have a question about a step in the instructions. Step 10 says, " Drag your CM7 file onto the SD Card. There will be only one partition".
Well, that's what I did. I dragged the UNzipped CM7 file to the sd card. I somewhat know what a partition is, but don't know how to do it/whatever. The instructions did not say to actually do anything as far as a partition goes, just said it would be that way.
I guess I'm just unsure of myself
I'm about to plug it in to the nook. Will let know how it goes. Thanks for the write up

Re: [HOW-TO] Download, Run CM7 off SD Card (Easy to follow! No ro
DANGIT!!!!!
So, I thought all was well. I got the penguin, the blue scrolling text, but eventually it stopped. And here is was it says:
Looking for the install images...
Initial install files not found.
Please download it from nook.linuxhacker.ru
and put on first partition of this SD Card
the name should start with updatei-cm and end with.zip
That's exactly what is says/how it looks. Any idea's? Should I do what it says? Or did I do something wrong in the initial setup. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Edit: I went to linuxhacker.ru and haven't come across any "updatei-cm" zip files yet. And hopefully it was ok to turn off the nook (held down the power button) while it was in this sort-of...startup mode? Anways....Last edited by crailberry; 11-08-2011 at 12:27 PM.

If you got to the blue penguin, you arxe good. You just didn't exactly follow the directions! It says to NOT unzip the cyanogenmod zip file. Follow those links, redownload the version you want, put it on the SD card without the gapps, the put the SD card in the nook and boot it. Tell me if it works.

Re: [HOW-TO] Download, Run CM7 off SD Card (Easy to follow! No ro
Ok that's really weird. I downloaded the cm7 file again, did the same exact thing I did before (which was not unzip it), and it appears to have worked! I got the penquin, scrolling text, and then for some reason it shut down. Decided to wait 30 secs and turn it back on, and now I got the cyanogen(mod)7 little blue guy with an arrow going around him. Although it has been stuck on this screen for a good minute....nvm! it works! it works I say! Thank you very much for this write up, and still being proactive about helping people. You are awsome!

How will I know if Google Apps worked or not? I Reboot>>Recovery, and let it do its thing, and it them shut down. I turned it back on, and nothing was there to indicate something happened. I tried rebooting then, and still don't see anything.

Ok, now that you have cm7 working, put the SD card back into your computer, put the Gapps in the partition named BOOT and put the SD card back into the nook. Boot into CM7, hold the power button down until the menu comes up and reboot>>recovery. Let it do its thing, boot, and see if the market is there. The Gapps are the market, so if you have the market, you ate good to go. If you don't, repeat those steps till you do!

Ok, so a partition is basically the folder that pops up when you plug in the SD card. So when you plug it in, and go to "My Computer" on windows, there will be a folder called BOOT, with like a letter and a colon in parentheses after it. Drag the GApps file into this folder, not any file within the folder.
I'm off to bed, I'll check up here again in the morning

No USB mass storage option when I plug in using my Nook cord.
Got everything to boot fine. I got some FC issues, but I can attribute that to my class 6 card.
The issue I am having is that Angry Birds will not load. I just get a black screen when it starts.
Also I get no USB mass storage option on my nook after I connect to my win7 PC. Do I need to dl. Some drivers for that? - 11-09-2011, 05:18 PM

Re: No USB mass storage option when I plug in using my Nook cord.
No, USB mass storage should work stock, no drivers needed. What version of CM7 are you using? If it is newer, you shouldn't have a problem. If you aren't using a newer version, try clearing data, cache, and uninstalling and reinstalling. Then you can restore your data with TB or whatever if you need to.
