Currently tethering the NC with the DroidX. There is a hack on XDA-Developers that you had to enable to see AdHoc Networks. Wireless tether from the market just released an update that makes the DroidX infastrucre now versus AdHoc. Works like a champ!

tethering with an evo running CM 6.1.. zero issues
- 01-10-2011, 11:44 PM #9
CM 6.1 must set up tethering as an infrastructure instead of Adhoc. I'm using the generic Wireless Tether which sets up an adhoc network. Using the XDA hack I updated my NC so it can see Adhoc networks. It was cake.

Certain phones (evo, DX, etc) support using Infrastructure for the tether in the last few releases of Wireless Tether. The Galaxy S phones among others still only support AdHoc, so you'll need to apply the hack found in xda to get the NC to support AdHoc connections.
Either way, tethering is fairly straightforward. - 01-12-2011, 12:24 AM #15

I first got my Nook Color the day after Christmas. I tried to tether it ti my Droid X in the parking lot of the store and it didn't work but after the last update to wireless tether it saw the android tether right away and works like a charm.
Enjoy every day. - 01-14-2011, 08:04 AM

Thanks for all the information, but what about tethering using a USB cable, has anyone done that? I have a BB Storm which does not have WiFi, so I have to either tether with a USB cable or Bluetooth (when that becomes operable by a developer). I've also been reading that the NC does not do USB hosting, so corded tethering might be a no go.
Maybe I just won't worry about tethering until I get an Android phone, just a couple of more months to wait.
Thanks again!! - 01-24-2011, 11:08 AM #18
For those tethering (particularly those using a Droid X), are you using an open connection, or are you able to use WPA and/or MAC filtering?
I tried tethering my laptop to my old original Droid last year using the Wireless Tether app (ad hoc only back then), and I could only get it to work using unsecured WEP. Any time I enabled WPA or tried filtering I couldn't access the internet. - 01-24-2011, 01:00 PM #19

Easyswitch widget works on the droit x. Set it up with all the buttons (2x6 I think). Set up 3g mobile hotspot on the phone (just in the app, don't call verizon to subscribe), connect with the nook and try to go to a website on the nook. It will redirect you to a verizon site. Using the easyswitch widget, turn off all the radios--i think its the 4th button in the top row-- then turn them back on. Now try to use the nook, it should work. I had to try it a few times to get it to work.

chaloney,
thanks for pointing me in the right direction for free wireless tethering my NC to my phone. but i'm not too bright, and i cannot understand what you mean by 'setting up 3g mobile hotspot in the app.' i have downloaded the easyswitch widget, whose description says it controls "hotspot," but that is not one of the buttons available in the widget. could you please spell it out for me if you have the time. thanks alot
