While it's on a strictly developmental level at this point (nowhere near ready for regular use), xda member occip has successfully activated bluetooth capabilites on the NOOKcolor.

occip said he's even managed to transfer some files between his phone and NOOKcolor via bluetooth.

If/when this becomes available to the end-user, this could very well enable:

- bluetooth headsets (enabling Skype and SIP calling)

- webcams

- Wiimotes (for playing game emulators like NESoid, which are bluetooth compatible)

- bluetooth GPS

The reason something as seemingly outrageous as bluetooth on an e-reader is even possible is that manufacturers generally get better deals on WiFi chips that also have bluetooth capabilites. If they have to pay more to get a WiFi-only chip, it's more economically sound to go with the WiFi + Bluetooth chip, and simply deactivate the bluetooth functions on a software level . . .

. . . which leaves room for the development community (in this case, occip) to re-activate it.

Who knows how long it will be until it's ready for prime time, but we'll keep you posted as things progress (you can also keep an eye on the development thread)
