If you've used Nookie Froyo, you've doubtlessly noticed the no cell signal indicator in the status bar, as well as 'no service'on the lockscreen.

Thanks to xda member samuelhalff (whose original instructions can be found [Only registered users can view links. ]) there's now a fix!

Download the following two files:

[Only registered users can view links. ]

[Only registered users can view links. ]

Then simply use Root Explorer to replace the two files of the same name in system/framework (be sure to set as r-w first). It would also be wise to back the two original files up first.

Reboot, and you'll no longer be constantly reminded that froyo was designed for cell phones!

Yes! Worked perfectly. I used adb commands to copy the original files from the /system/framework directory to my laptop (for just in case) and then installed samuelhalff's files. Typed the command to reboot and when the NC came up again, no icon!!!!!

These links appear to be dead. Is there a new link to these?

In root explorer you must change it from r-o to r-w. read only to read write. if this helps hit the thanks button.
