Best launcher for Nook Color Rooted with Autonooter?
I am currently using LauncherPro. At first I didn't mind that there were keys that went unused (ie. phone), but now I want something different. What is everyone else using that you like? If I get the paid version of LauncherPro is there a way to get rid the unused keys.

I tried LauncherPro, Zeam, ADW, and finally setlled on Go Launcher EX.
Things I like about GoLauncher: customizing the dock, scrollable dock, screen animations, quick and responsive, gestures, resizing widgets.
Things I do'nt like about it: Icons in the app-drawer are HUGE, no way to use the standard app drawer; Dragging apps from the drawer into screens is a cumbersome process.
In the end, the deal-breaker for me is the Running tab of Go Launcher's app drawer. I can easily see all the apps I have running and close the ones I don't need.
On a side-note, does anyone know why adding shortcuts onto the rooted 1.1 home screens doesn't work? How to fix it? I have the same problem regardless of launcher: long-tap the home screen, select Add Shortcut, screen flashes black like it's loading something, then goes back to the home screen. - 02-23-2011, 10:45 AM #3
With launcherpro (what I use on both my nook and phone) you can change the keys on the bottom simply by holding a finger over them (both paid and free versions). They have options for what to do with that space for a quick press, long press and swipe. My bottom buttons are market, dropbox, maps, and browser. I turned off the scrollable bottom buttons. Hope that helps.

I use Zeam on my NC. But, I use Launcher Pro on my phone. I suppose it's all a matter of personal preference.

I was using Launcher Pro mostly because I use it on my phone and already paid for. When finally getting around to try and configure it, i.e. the dock shortcuts (or even shortcuts in general), it would just flick the screen black for a second and not give me any further options. I then loaded Zeam and Go Launcher EX and gave them both a shot. I think Zeam's minimalist setup would work for those who don't like the clutter, but Go is happy medium. I don't like a bunch of icons and junk cluttering my screens, so I use the dock for my most used apps. Helps with battery consumption since I don't really use widgets either...

Home Switcher!
I would suggest installing home switcher from the market and play with all the launchers you can handle. It is insane how simple home switcher is to use and you can jump back and forth between launchers as you choose.
I have ADW & ADW EX, go launcher, HeLauncher, Launcher Pro, and Zeam. I probably switch to a different launcher once a week. And your settings are saved when you switch between launchers. - 02-25-2011, 12:43 AM #12

Same with me.
I tried Go Launcher, as it was the only I could figure out how to make the scrollable dock work, but the app drawer font for each app was wrapping the text in a undesirable way. I couldn't find the setting to turn this off (or reduce the font size)... so I loaded Zeam and uninstalled LP and Go. - 02-25-2011, 07:11 PM

Let me ask you guys as My Nook should be in today. If I root it with Autonooter, what version of Android is it leaving on the tablet?

Does anyone know of a launcher, or just a program/widget, that will bring back the ability to see the last 6 (8 with froyo) programs you used screen.
Basically I miss the ability to long press the home button to do that, it Is missing on the Nook.Systems Analyst by trade, drummer by desire and music lover by birth.

I installed Zeam from the market, but when I go into setting up the wallpaper and into the live wallpaper and select one, it seems to just hang on the screen 'loading live wallpaper'.
Any thoughts? I am on rooted stock NC.
Thanks. - 03-10-2011, 11:06 AM #22
I like Zeam. I've tried Launcher Pro and didn't really care for it. Zeam seems to give more control over the look and feel of the UI. I'm waiting for the Honeycomb revision which uses the fully released SDK, and then I'll use it and do away with all of the Barnes & Noble stuff all together.

12. Why aren't my favorite live wallpapers working?
I'm not sure, but here's how to get the rest of them going:
Download this file:
It will fail installing, but if you use Root Explorer, copy it from your download directory, go to system/app, set as r-w... Then long-press on any file in that directory, and look at its permissions. Now paste your LiveWallpapers.apk there and change its permissions to match the others. Your live wallpapers should work now!
=====================================
Notes:
1) The permissions are simply 644
2) The link he mentions does not work so get it from here:
So basically get the file, move it to system/app with root explorer, making sure the directory is read/write so you can put it there, then change its permissions to 644.Systems Analyst by trade, drummer by desire and music lover by birth.
