Running stock Nookcolor OS of a microSD

So, I bought my Nook with the intention of flashing it to HC. Before commiting though, I made a bootable SD rom and was quite pleased, so I went ahead with the flash to HC. My thinking was i would be able to utilize the superior performanceof the internal memory for running the more demanding OS (HC) and then create a bootable SD rom for the less demanding stock Nook OS if I ever decided I actually wanted to use my nook as an ereader. Has anyone done this, or is there any reason why burning an SD card with the stock OS would not work? Thanks for the insight.
