"Installation of download apks is not supported"

I get this error message when I try to run apk's on the NC. I have tried with Astro, Root Explorer and AppsInstaller. Am I missing something obvious? The apk's come from Market via HTC Evo. I have also tried to run apk's that are already on the autonooter 3.0 install, like Google Search and get the same error. Thanks for any help.

Go into NookColor Tools.
Uncheck Allow Non-Marker Apps.
Reboot.
Back to NookColor Tools. Check box and reboot again.

Need to get adb working, though.

I'm having the same problem but when I uncheck "Allow Non-Market Apps" it doesn't stay unchecked. Any ideas?

@anach - follow this carefully and report me back here :
1. Go to Nook Color Settings
[I believe it is checked under Install apps from Non market etc etc]
2. Uncheck it
3. Check it again
4. Come out and reboot the device

try installing apps and see.
