Wipe, De-register NOOKcolor but save root
I am selling my NC so I am looking for the easiest way to wipe all of my info (name, contacts, email addresses, credit card info etc) from the device but KEEP root access and all of the apps installed... Is this possible?? I'm running 2.1 and used the stickied thread here to root.
I know I can just format the SD card in order to wipe it but I'm not sure how to wipe the NC.
Thanks in advance.

If i go into settings>device info there is an" erase and deregister" option... is this what i want? Will i lose root access if i do that option?

I don't believe you will it should stay rooted unless you reflash it to stock.
Not 100% sure as I haven't done it before. - 03-28-2011, 10:10 AM

Thanks for your reply... Does anyone know for sure if using this method will keep root?

Not 100% sure but I can say that I was rooted but under the wrong Gmail act. I did not know at the time that I should use the same one as my phone. So I deregistered it so I could change Gmail accounts. Afterwards the root "sort of worked" but the Market was not working after that etc... I had to re-root it again to get the market working.
So I would say no. Your best best is put it back to factory and then just root it again. Personally I would sell it as factory, not rooted. Let the new user root if if they want to. This takes the responsibility off your shoulders if there are future problems etc...
As for the apps they are connected to your account so I doubt you could keep them 100%. Some may be fine, others may not work or be able to be updated. I am unsure on this side of things. Paid or free etc...
Why would you want to give someone apps anyway? If they are free apps the new owner can simply go download them themselves and if they are paid you should not be giving those away anyway.
Just sell the the Nook, factory fresh and let them do everything else. This is what I would do.
If you don't know how to set it back to factory, just ask, I can point you to the directions but they are in the Stickys!Last edited by Paladin; 03-28-2011 at 12:29 PM.

Thank you VERY much! It sounds like the safest way for me to be sure all of my info is wiped... I'll post back if I can't figure out how to get it back to stock.

Ok, can someone link me to the best way to wipe my rooted NC back to "out of the box" condition (removing all personal info stated in OP) so that I can sell it?

One way using a factory ROM image:

I am pretty sure that Step 2 in this link will also work and is probably the easiest way. This may be all you need to do.
