$199 for Tablet soon?!
Ok so I have the nookbook, rooted running CM7 and love it. But I am definitely upgrading to the Nook Tablet when it comes out. Remember when the nookbook went on sale for $199 by B&N on eBay? I got one! Seems like that wasn't too long after they first come out.
So anyone think they'll offer the tablet for $199 for Christmas sales? If not I suppose we should see it for that price n March or so?
Just wondering if anyone else was thinking the same! I tend to wait around awhile till devices go down in price instead of rushing out and paying TOP dollar for them! - 11-15-2011, 03:48 PM #2

Re: $199 for Tablet soon?!
Wondering how this measures up to the Fire.
I'm a e-reader pre-purchase noob of 2 days. I really need something to consolidate my miles of printed pdf's, and give the ability to highlight and add notes to those pdfs...and the occasional you-tube and web browsing and div-x movies on the go.
I dont like the limited storage of the Fire. I won't have free wi-fi tether off my EVO forever....Treo 650 > HTC Mogul > HTC Touch Diamond > BB Curve > Palm PRE- > HTC Evo / BB Bold > Nexus S 4G - 11-16-2011, 01:17 PM

Re: $199 for Tablet soon?!
The Fire has no sd card slot, the Nook Tablet will allow up to 32GB on a microSD
The Fire has 512MB RAM / Nook Tablet 1GB RAM
Display and Processors look about the same
If you are looking at one of these 2 the Nook is far superior! - 11-30-2011, 10:37 AM

Excellent choice. Now just enable 3rd party downloads and you'll have the whole Amazon App store and Kindle library at your fingertips. Took my about 30 minutes but then I've never used any android op system before. Takes an experienced used about 15 minutes to make the mods.

Re: $199 for Tablet soon?!
4. the Nook tablet has a locked bootloader making the Kindle Fire far superior.
5. the Kindle Fire has custom ROMs making the Kindle Fire far superior.
6. the Kindle Fire has a bigger battery making the Kindle Fire far superior.
...
X. and if you really want to use it just as an ereader: the SD card is worthless, the RAM doesn't matter, and the Kindle eco-system is much better, making ... wait for it ... the Kindle Fire far superior. - 12-06-2011, 11:53 AM #10
Re: $199 for Tablet soon?!
Sounds like someone bought themselves a Fire, and wants to feel good about it.
The Nook Tablet really does not need rooting to work well. With a few adjustments, I have full access to the Amazon app store, and can side load apps from the Android Marketplace.
The Kindle fire may have a bigger battery, but that does not translate into longer battery life. The Nook tablet beats the Fire in charge longevity by a little over 2 hours.
If you're buying the Nook Tablet or the Kindle Fire as dedicated e-readers, you're doing it wrong.
The ability to use a SD card is huge when it comes to having a really useful Android tablet.
Ram matters. Both in the speed to run apps, and in viewing movies.
The Kindle Fire is a capable tablet for $199. The Nook Tablet runs $50 more, but the price difference makes it a much more capable tablet. - 12-06-2011, 04:38 PM

Re: $199 for Tablet soon?!
can you post a link to what you used for your nook tablet?
I've been reading different methods I'm thinking of getting one today if I can get the feel of a droid tablet with avoiding the B&N launcher.
Also, is having the amazon market just as good as the droid market? Is it safe to say that a droid APK file is all the same no matter where is comes from? - 12-12-2011, 12:26 PM
