Ive got the instructions for rooting my tablet but not having luck. I'm using a XP machine.
I think it may be the drivers. My computer automatically detects the nook.

When I try to run the root script it says it is going to list devices and hit y if it shows up but my nook doesn't show up on the list so I can't proceed.

You may want to head over to the XDA forums. If you hook up the nook, you ned to make sure there is a triangle with and exclamation point in it next to the nook in Device manager. If there isn't, you need to either use another computer or remove the drivers.

I have Windows 7 on my laptop and had to re-root my tablet after it installed the OTA update. For some reason my laptop did the same thing you said yours is doing so I tired it on an Windows XP PC, it worked fine on that machine.
