why is my battery so hot and how do i get pass a frozen lock screen?

I just got an Astro Queo the battery get really being on for less then 10 minutes. We charged it the battery when we got it. On my lock screen to get into the tablet it is frozen. I put in the password but it is stuck. I tried turning it off but its still the same.

Welcome to Android Central! The battery might be failing or defective. Try a new one, if the battery is user-removable. A quick way to confirm a failing battery is to take it out and lay it flat on a table. Then try to spin it--if it spins freely, it's bulging in the middle, which is a bad sign. But even if it doesn't spin, it could still be defective.

Were you ever able to unlock the phone? Does the touchscreen respond to your touch? Off-brand devices are more prone to hardware or firmware defects, so there might not be much else you can do.
